Er go go was a wonderful brother to me and all his other siblings.
He held the family together from the time he went back to China to build a new country, by writing to our mother every month for nearly forty years. He gave her news of everyone in China, so though she was broken hearted by losing her four elder children to building the new China, she could keep in touch.
Personally, he helped me in my early childhood, both intellectually and physically in the first ten years of my life. When I first went to school a boy of six would bully me, but Er go go taught me to box. I gave him one professional blow even though I was only six, (the boy was JRR Tolkien's grandson, I don't know whether the Chinese like the hobbit movies) and the boy never touched me again.
But more importantly, he taught me to appreciate classical music, and Shakespeare from an early age. He had a great sense of humor, and was always playing jokes on all the family. Always cheerful, charming and optimistic. His warmth of personality permeated to friends and family in Oxford.
